I’m Gabriele, a freelance software consultant and open source developer based in Milan. I’ve spent my career moving between layers—from firmware and backend systems to web products, cloud platforms, and local AI.
What has stayed constant is the urge to understand the whole system, make it simpler, and leave behind something useful that other people can own.

01 · The short version
A career built across the stack.
I started in the early 2000s, when shipping software could mean buying a Dell server and renting rack space in a server farm. I worked on firmware and backend systems first, then followed the web through APIs, SPAs, containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and AWS architecture.
Today I still like being close to every part of the puzzle: shaping an idea, choosing the architecture, writing the difficult code, and getting it into production. Recently, much of that curiosity has gone into local AI, inference, RAG, and open source tools with small operational footprints.
02 · Beyond work
The other things that keep me moving.
Blues & guitar
I like music with space, character, and a little imperfection. Playing blues is a good antidote to screens.
Open source
I enjoy software that can be inspected, learned from, changed, and genuinely owned by the people using it.
Lifelong learning
A new language, a lower-level implementation, or an unfamiliar AWS service: there is always another layer.
I care about thoughtful work, direct communication, and collaborating with people who bring their own expertise to the table. The best projects teach everyone involved something new.
